Marana is Andor’s flagship, high-performance, vacuum-cooled sCMOS camera platform, specifically designed for physical sciences and astronomy.

Built from the ground up to deliver market-leading performance and versatility, Marana reads out 4.2 Megapixel high-resolution arrays in under 50 milliseconds while maintaining very low read noise—hundreds of times faster than comparable CCD detectors. Equipped with a high-performance monochrome CMOS global shutter sensor, it boasts an 8.1MP resolution (2848 x 2848 pixels, 2.74 µm pitch) optimized for the 200-400 nm wavelength range, achieving over 50% quantum efficiency at 300 nm and 30% at 220 nm, making it ideal for demanding UV imaging applications.

The CB2 24B model features a high sensitivity back-illuminated 24.5 Megapixel sensor, delivering high-resolution imaging over a large field of view. Its unique on-chip 2×2 pixel binning converts the native 2.74 µm pixels to 5.48 µm without doubling the read noise, providing optical flexibility that broadens its application range. It is especially suited for luminescence, astronomy, and other long exposure imaging tasks typically challenging for sCMOS cameras.
